Pelourinho Plaza in Salvador

Taken from the doorway of my hostel. The entire Pelourinho (old town) is heritage listed and much has been restored.
Musicians - especially drummer bands - roam the streets until midnight.
Pelourinho means pillory which suggests the area was a punishment area in the slave days.
